Welcome to my first blog posting! I’m SO excited to share with everyone what I’ve learned, experienced and witnessed.
When I first discovered Bowenwork, I had such a change in my own health and saw significant improvements with multiple family members, I thought “Why is Bowenwork such a secret? Why doesn’t everyone know about this? How does it work?” And so it began…and now 2 years later I am a fully certified practitioner, resigned from my job at the hospital and started my own Bowenwork practice. I want to share some of the elements of Bowenwork that register so strongly with me and fuel my passion for this work.
1. Less is More. This is a Bowenwork practitioner’s mantra. And you can see why when you experience the subtly of the work and witness the long lasting effects. Our bodies maintain homeostasis through a delicate balance, a complex interplay of all the body’s systems. Often times the painful physical manipulations and invasive procedures we put our bodies through, tend to bulldoze this delicate balance and long lasting change is not achieved. But how does “Less is More” actually work in regards to Bowenwork? It’s all about the precise locations and specific technique. See FAQs for more…
2. Truly Holistic: One of my frustrations working in the traditional healthcare arena was the ‘band-aid’ approach. A patient’s room was a revolving door of specialists each addressing their own agenda. Because a Bowenwork session shifts a client into their “rest and digest” parasympathetic nervous system, so many innate healing mechanisms are activated. So not only is your musculoskeletal system releasing muscle tension for structural alignment but your digestive, lymphatic and nervous systems are also resetting, giving you a truly holistic approach to your condition.
3. Credit goes to the body…Ego, get out of the way! This work is not about me manipulating your body to be a certain way. A Bowenwork practitioner understands that the body has the capacity to heal itself. I am in awe of this fact. A dysfunctional pattern needs a reboot, a rebalancing that the Bowenwork technique can provide.
4. The learning is endless, I’ll never be bored. Every client teaches me something new and this will be true till the very last one because no two bodies are alike let alone the way we heal and recover! I’m also currently obsessed with Thomas Meyers book, Anatomy Trains, and the correlation of myofascial meridians and acupuncture meridians and the location of Bowenwork moves….like I said the learning is endless!
